Below is the list of schedule designers to debut at the Africa Fashion Week New York 2011{AFWNY}, we will do our best to keep you informed. Any Changes to the list will be updated as soon as possible.


Day One: 14/07/2011 {Broad Street Ballroom, 41 Broad Street New York 10004} Time: 7pm

Korto Momolu

Korto Momolu (Former Project Runway Star, 5th Season) infuses tribal details into her designs, owing to her African roots. Motivated by rich fabrics and textures, her designs are truley ideal for real, full-figured women. She also recently showcased at Arise Fashion Week in Lagos, Nigeria. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Bebegrafiti

The Nigerian based design house creates popular, innovative, edgy and ethnic pieces that effectively help the youth find their unique cultural voice. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Kachi Designs

Kachi Designs are multi-faceted and whether ready-to-wear, or custom-made, Kachi pieces bring life and sophistication to any wardrobe. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Syl Anim

Syl Anim designs is noted for its intricate handmade weave designs. Syl has a gift of creating things with her hands and is able to design outfits and accessories with beads, woods and wool. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Gloria Wavamunno

Gloria Wavamunno was created under the creative direction of Gloria Wavamunno, a Ugandan based designer. The designers draws her inspiration from all that inspires her globally through culture, music and colors. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Rouch

Nigerian model and fashion editor Ronke Ladipo created Rouch, a mixture of ankara and lace materials. Showcase Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Bill Witherspoon

Witherspoon’s clothing is spiritual, coulorful, and a collage of texture. Showcase Date: Friday July 15, 2011


Washington Roberts

Washington Roberts designs pieces that compliment women’s bodies and accentuate their femininity. His collection is an adaptive style for women who want to look stylish in timeless fashion. Showcase Date: Friday, July 15, 2011


Mirembe Collections

Mirembe collections is a fusion of the very rich and unique East African cultures bringing you effortless glamour. Highly influenced by the current fashion trends to make it easily accessible for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Kozby World

Kola Zubair lead designer of Kozby World received his first sewing machine at age 9. Showcase Date: Friday, July 15, 2011

Danielle Martin

Combining tea length and mini dresses with full length gowns , Danielle Cicero Bridal and Special Occassions offers pieces that are as individual and beautiful as each woman who wears them. Showcase Date: Friday, July 15, 2011


Day Three :16/07/2011 {Broad Street Ballroom, 41 Broad Street New York 10004} Time: 1pm- 9pm

Saint Wobil

Designer Darius E. Wobil of Saint Wobil work has graced the covers and editorial pages of Italian Vogue. Wobil’s designs the epitome of modern New York and European style. Born into fashion and the arts, his mother a West African model Erica Thomas and a musician father non-denominational Reverend Emmanuel Wobil. Showcase Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011


Nadir Tati

The Angolan fashion designer, Nadir Tati, named the “Best Designer of the year 2010″, a trophy of “Moda Luanda.” Showcase Date: Saturday July 16, 2011


Darryl Jagga

Creative Director, Darryl Jagga has worked as a designer for top American labels such as Victor Costa, Calvin Klein, Castle Starr and Chaiken. His fashion house includes two contemporary lines called 43.46 and Darryl Jagga. Showcase Date: Saturday July 16, 2011


Aamaa Couture

Tori Famuyiwa

Tori Famuyiwa, ex-Visual Director at Victoria’s Secret, creates exclusive style with original ideas that intrigues the mind. The designer integrates beauty and personal style to the audience through synergy. Showcase Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011

Sarfo of Styles

A child of Ghana. A parent of art. His designs embody the essence of everyday couture. Showcase Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011

Funlayo Deri

Born in Nigeria, Funmilayo Csilla Deri is a London/Budapest based fashion designer. Funlayo Deri pieces are luxurious and wearable. They celebrate the female form, emphasizing a woman’s curves while utilizing the most luxurious fabrics and the finest cuts and detailing. Showcase Date: Saturday July 16, 2011

    I remember Korto from Project Runway and she is a great designer! i wish her the best and all the other designers! We have to support our people! Progression is always the way!
