GHANAIAN DESIGNERS:CHRISTIE BROWN, MIMI PLANGE, ANNE MARIE ADDO & DPIPER TWINS SHOWING AT THE ARISE FASHION WEEK 2011 LAGOS

As it is Ghana Independence day today we will be spotlighting Ghanaian designers, their talents and contribution to the African fashion world. As the Arise fashion week 2011 in Lagos Nigeria is only a few days away, we take a look at Ghanaian Designers selected to showcase at this prestigious event.

CHRISTIE BROWN

As a huge Christie Brown fan I have had the opportunity to meet the designer and wore her design back in 2009 when I took a trip to Ghana. I sat in her office and described the outfit i wanted and in a few seconds, Aisha Oboubi of Christie Brown Label had sketch my idea and brought it to a reality. Aisha is very talented and creative, she was able to communicate with me and advised me on what will look good on my body frame and when i received my dresses and jacket from her it was even more than I had dreamed off, it fitted perfectly and not an inch out of place. I am so pleased that She has been selected again to showcase her amazing designs at Arise Fashion Week in Lagos Nigeria 2011, she is really doing Ghana proud and i wish her all the best as she showcases on Friday the 11th of March 2011!

MIMI PLANGE

Mimi Plange is another designer I have fallen in love with her designs and I regret missing her presentation during the New York fashion week in February 2011. Mimi Plange’s designs impressed the likes of Vogue, style.com and fashion editors around the world including editor at large Andre Leon Talley. I came across Mimi Plange last year January as the design was known as Boudoir D’Huitres, with the name change also came along even more better designs. Although currently based in New York City, Mimi was born in Ghana, where I believe she experience a taste of the Ghanaian fashion. Mimi Plange is a brand to watch with all the positive reviews from well Know editors, the brand has a promising future. Mimi has been selected to showcase at the Arise fashion week in lagos 2011 on saturday March the 12th at 12.00. I wish her success as she heads to Lagos and I am more than certain that she will do nothing but Impress you all.

ANNE MARIE ADDO (JIL BOUTIQUE)

As a first timer to show at the Arise Fashion week 2011 in Lagos Nigeria, It is certainly not the the first time she has showcased her elegant and beautifully crafted designs in Nigeria. She took part in the FAB night out sponsored by Vlisco, where Anne-Marie’s smart occasions and cocktail dresses successfully wowed the Nigerian crowed.  She carefully designs to give her clients a relaxed, satisfying feeling and enjoyable shopping experience

CHANTELLE AND DANIELLE PIPER

Identical twins half Ghanaian and Half Caribbean descent Chantelle and Danielle Piper design women’s clothing as well as jewellery while working as a team to build their careers in the fashion industry. As another First timer to be selected to showcase at the Arise fashion week in Lagos 2011. These beautiful ladies in their early twenties each have a role to play in bringing their designs together, with one designing clothes and the other focusing on Jewellery they have achieved so much in their young age and I Hope their designs will bring something new to the Arise show!
