AFIA SS12 COLLECTIONS//FASHION CONSCIOUS TRENDS

Following the successful 2011 debut, AFIA proudly announces its Spring-Summer 2012 women’s ready-to-wear collection.  By fusing the vibrant, traditional textiles of West Africa with American trends, AFIA’s SS12 collection embodies their signature “urban indigenous” aesthetic.  Inspired by a trip abroad to Ghana, designer Meghan Sebold returns to Africa for each collection to handpick fabric from floor to ceiling stacks of technicolor textiles in the sweltering, busy markets of Accra.  The nature of the sourcing process makes each collection personal and forever limited-edition.

AFIA’s collection focuses on casual, statement separates, cocktail dresses, and several accessory options.  The collection aligns with editorial forecasts for SS12: peplums, tribal prints, crop tops, high-waists, and pops of neon.

“The intention of this line was to make dynamic, fresh pieces while keeping the price point accessible,” says President & Designer Meghan Sebold.  “Sustainable fashion should be on-trend and attainable.”

AFIA is expanding to select brick and mortar boutiques in New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Minneapolis to give the growing customer base the opportunity to touch and feel the pieces.  The collection will also be available online on AFIA’s e-commerce site shopafia.com and partnering sites.
