After a successful partnership during last season’s, Spring/Summer 2012 runway show, IMAN Cosmetics is proud to announce their collaboration with Somali design duo, Mataano, who have signed on as the makeup and skincare collection’s brand ambassadors. To kick off the partnership, IMAN Cosmetics will be the lead sponsor for the twin designers’ Fall 2012 runway show in February
Diverging from the stereotypical characterization of African style, the label’s founders, Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim, are shaping a new landscape in the women’s ready-to-wear category for the elegantly stylish multicultural woman. With a similar background story to the supermodel whose namesake brand is now the leader in cosmetics for women of color, the Mataano sisters emerged on the fashion scene in 2008 showcasing a brand with rich culture and talent, at merely 20 years of age. Inspired by their love and appreciation of rich cultural diversity, their designs tap into their Somali, and American heritage, lending a truly multicultural approach to the collection. The talented team have the caught the eye of the fashion elite with a cosmopolitan outlook and ability to speak to women from a global perspective.
