    FYI you cannot “Design” Vintage…
Your garments can be vintage inspired! Vintage a Classification of a design 30 year or older! I was so disappointed I have been dying to locate a collection of Vintage African Designer Garments!.There are some elements of classic silhouettes as well as some retro references to a couple of fashion eras but she manages to give them a fresh modern Take!

Lately with the sajuration of every tom dick and harry in africa (especially nigerians, ghana etc) all calling themselves a designer, slapping together some ankara fabric and calling it a day. Am sorry there is no uniqueness in any of their work. I mean the photos above tell me what is unique about it. Nothing - just another african fabric coordinated into a dress.

My africans please be unique for once, every body cannot be a fashion designer - tehre are more creative stuff one can be

I agree with the first part of your comment. U said it really. I am not gonna knock this designer because i guess the effort has been made and i admire the jumpsuits a lot. But i have come to realise that a lot of our new up and coming designers are lacking the ingenuity and creative foresight that i believe that every true designer has, which tends to set each one of them apart. This ankara thing is just getting way outta hand. Practicality is now lost to the wind as copy cat’ing has taken way over our senses of what is fashion designing and that is so wrong.
When it comes to choosing clothes, i think of practicality and my everyday comfort. I think about simplicity but at the same time sophisticated and classy. Then i throw on my accessories which will either make or break the deal. Now this is just me, and i am speaking for myself but i will not wear half of these clothes during the day. Most of them will probably be to go to some evening do depending on who is throwing the party or the do.
I believe that Ankara is a beautiful fabric and a very proud piece of heritage for all of us and we are all very proud of our print but this same print can be very limiting to where it can be worn to on a daily basis. Factors like your job, your country of residence and the trend of the season can seriously limit the use of most of these designs being created by our young designers. Am not saying do not use Ankara, no, am saying, please find practical ways of using it that will endear a lot of your fan base to be able to use. A typical example of African designers who know how to do this is Mina Daniels of Ghana and Jewel by Lisa of Nigeria. Am sure there are loads of others out there but to me, i can see myself wearing a lot of their clothes to the office,to parties, etc and feel dangerously sophisticated, classy and sassy.

Am proud of all of u designers out there, but its time to get practical, think out of the box and your comfort zone, do not be afraid to experiment and learn to set your work out with a sophistication that exceeds expectation. Jewel by lisa has done it, Mina has done it and y’all can do it. U got the skills and the craft, now study the niche you are trying to sell to. Its ok for people to complement and praise your clothes but what you really want and need is for huge sales to happen. Go international. Make us proud. Good luck to every single one of you.

Like i said and pointed out earlier, everything said here is based on my views and am speaking for myself. Am sure there are millions of people of will disagree with me, which is fine, but to me, this is really important.
