We at shadders are proud of Mr Ozwald Boateng, having been executing some of the finest tailoring in British history, the designer continues to be one of our favourite Menswear designers. This year the university for the Creative Arts (UCA) will present British/Ghanaian designer Ozwald Boateng with an honorary degree in recognition of his contribution to the creative arts.
He will be presented with the award at UCA Epsom’s graduation ceremony on 19 July 2011 at Guildford Cathedral. Ozwald is Founder of the Ozwald Boateng#mce_temp_url# – ‘Bespoke Couture’. Previously, he held the position of Creative Director of Givenchy Homme.
He began making bespoke suits in the 1980s and is widely credited with introducing Savile Row tailoring to a new generation. In 1994, he was the first tailor to stage a catwalk show in Paris during Paris Fashion week.
Ozwald’s many clients include Laurence Fishburne, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Rio Ferdinand and Mick Jagger. He was recently named one of the 100 Great Black Britons by ‘The Voice’ and the Greater London Authority as well as one of the Most Influential Londoners by the ‘Evening Standard’.
In 2007, Ozwald founded Made in Africa, an organisation which exposes African business opportunities to international investment and capital markets and develops profitable commercial businesses, facilitating the entry of major public and private companies to Africa
