CHOOLIPS “A LIFE AQUATIC” SS12 COLLECTIONS

The renowned London -based ethical fashion designer, Choolips recently introduced her spring/summer 2012 collections called “A Life Aquatic”. The collections in my humble opinion is a breath of fresh air, I love the beautiful Batik textiles ethically sourced and produced.

Sweet harmonies of swallows, fish and ocean waves painted in sorbet colours onto romantic & chic silhouettes, ‘A Life Aquatic’ sets the scene for a dewy summer promenade.

Holding the gaze of vast horizons our S/S 12 collection combines styles from our new line ‘Planet India’ with our ‘Golden Coast’ collection. Marrying batik traditions of Ghana, West Africa & applique from Gujarat, India we are spreading our love for water with grace & bold sustainable currents.

Our new line ‘Planet India’ is made entirely by hands. Handspun on a spinning wheel & handwoven khadi fabrics are embellished with handstitched applique details. Khadi is more than an exquisitely soft material. Khadi has enormous sustainable credentials. It ONLY consumes 3ltrs of water for 1metre of cloth in its entire production compared to mill cloth which consumes 55ltrs for 1metre. Besides this it was Ghandi’s cloth who promoted its production for rural self-employment and self-reliance. The range is produced in Ahmedabad/India bywww.rajka.com
