RUNWAY REVIEW:AFRICA FASHION WEEK – MAKI OH SPRING/SUMMER 2012

Maki Oh presentation provided a unique light tailored aesthetic alongside contrast coloured velvet pieces.

This is a sincerely gorgeous collection! I love Maki Oh’s creativity and this collection proved what the brand is all about, with no accessories and models with lightly applied make up and neatly pinned hair, these collections speaks for itself, needing nothing to complement the looks. The pieces was refreshing from what has previously been shown during the Africa fashion week show, with custom prints and geometric triangle cut designs, I initially was drawn to the see through dresses until the velvet dresses and skirts made their way to the runway. All these baring looks should be telling us something for 2012, one must keep up in fitness and getting rid of all those stomach flab’s around the abs area is a must.

Maki Oh understands simplicity, chic and daring, and these pieces can easily be seen won by celebrities. Maki Oh is one designer to watch out for and as an emerging designer I look forward to see more of her work.

Key accessories included floral accented sandals, fringed necklaces, tinted sunglasses, fans, fold-over clutches and studded sun hats.

Main Colours: Black, white, Salmon pink, dark blue, neutral tones.

Favourites: green velvet dress and knee length geometric cut long sleeve dress

Which Celebrities I see Wearing This Collection: Solange Knowles, Tontoh Dikeh, Genevive Nnaji will also look great in any of these velvet pieces
