A fashion week is meant to be an event, lasting approximately one week, which allows fashion designers, brands or “houses” to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers to take a look at the latest trends. Most importantly, these events let the industry know what’s “in” and what’s “out” for the season. The most prominent fashion weeks are held in the four fashion capitals of the world: New York City, London, Milan, and Paris.
Now, we have the Arise Magazine fashion week, Africa Fashion week in New York(AFWNY) and London (AFWL) and almost every part of Africa now host their own Fashion week. A few years ago the only African Fashion shows I knew about were South Africa Fashion week, Swahili, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana fashion week.
next year. Ghana has some amazing designers, with Christie Brown, Mina Evans, Coccolily, Bestow Elan and Dpiper Twins just to name a few, Ghana fashion industry needs to be revived and I really do hope that these upcoming events will share some more light on the Fashion Industry in Ghana
I will surely be keeping you all posted with Ghana fashion week as I investigate the organisations behind these events
