22 year old Mina Evans-Anfom is a personable, confident and sociable young lady fresh out of fashion school. Having graduated from London Centre for Fashion Studies under Northumbria School of Design, Design School Southern Africa, Johannesburg and understudying legendary Ghanaian designer, Kofi Ansah, she feels more than ready to play her part in making sure Ghana is ranked high amongst African fashion destinations.
Mina believes that her collection is for the ‘new African’ who is confident, sociable, fashion forward, in control and by all means sexy. Black women are the most beautiful women on earth. And Mina Evans’ African designs really bring out the natural beauty of the Black woman. It’s a great idea to design clothes and other things with true African originality, not always feeling the need to copy everything ‘white’ to feel accepted. Africans/Blacks worlwide need to be proud of who we are. People need to accept us on our own terms. Whether it’s Black entertainment, Black fashion, Black music, we need to be defiant and proud to promote Blackness in all its beautiful forms. For example the wearing of the Black Afro by Black women and men is something we need to be proud of and promote more. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL! BLACK IS LOVE! BLACK IS STRONG! BLACK IS POWER!
