Angolan Leila Lopes Is The Fourth African To Win Miss Universe

Miss Angola Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 in the much awaited pageant held in Brazil’s Sao Paolo. While all odds and online votes went to the Philippines representative Shamcey Supsup, this African beauty proved that she was a strong contender and bested 88 other contestants in the worlds most popular pageant. This makes Leila Lopes the fourth African contestant to win Miss Universe, previous Africans to win the title since the beginning of the worldwide pageant (South Africa, 1978; Namibia, 1992; Botswana, 1999; and Angola, 2011) and the second African of African descent to win following Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Universe 1999 from Botswana. Shadders wish Leila all the best, she truly deserves to win, she emanates an inner beauty, intelligence and grace when she spoke during the show.
